Recess  11.00am – 11.30am
Lunch 1.00pm – 1.45pm
Final bell            3:00pm

Punctuality is most important. Latecomers must go to the office, give a reason for lateness and receive a late note before going to class. This information is then recorded in the Class Roll. Department officers from the Home School Liaison Program regularly check rolls and where attendance is a problem, work with schools, staff, families and students to improve a student’s attendance record.

Any person wishing to take a student from school during normal hours must notify the school, even if you intend to return to school before the end of the school day. You must report to the school office to obtain a release note. This procedure is to protect students from wrongful removal and should be respected and observed by parents.

Under no circumstances will a student be allowed to leave the school by themselves, or wait for a parent/caregiver outside the school grounds. Students must be collected from the school ground/classroom and the proper procedures followed.

At the time of collecting your child, please contact the class teacher, particularly if this occurs during recess or lunch.

Changes to Personal Deatails (address, phone, etc)

It is of paramount importance that all details relating to a student’s welfare be correct and up to date. The office must be advised immediately of any changes to home, mobile or business numbers, address, email address, as well as emergency contact names and numbers. It is also important to inform the school of other general procedures such as arrangements for picking up student. Notification of changed custody arrangements is also critically important.

Notes Explaining  Absences

In NSW students must attend school regularly. All students between the ages of six and seventeen are legally required to attend school. Attendance is recorded daily.

School rolls are official documents and must be accurately kept by teachers with specific entries. The Department of Education states that students must attend school unless

  • They are too sick to leave their home
  • The student has an infectious disease like chicken pox, mumps, measles etc.
  • The student is incapacitated by injury
  • The student has to honour a religious commitment

Any absence from school must be explained within seven days of the absence and must be in the form of a written note. These notes must be explicit: e.g. “Please excuse John’s absence from school on Monday, 24th February, as he was suffering from a heavy cold”.

Family Holidays in School Time

In the event of families wishing to take leave during the school term, the Principal must be contacted well in advance for approval. The Principal is authorised to approve leave of absence up to and including 20 days. The School Education Director, Ryde District Office, must approve longer leave absences.
